The Gunners' boss remains confident that his team can keep managing with player absences following disclosing that attacker Kai Havertz will not return for the coming weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for Havertz

Havertz has been absent since the summer after undergoing knee surgery. Hoped to return at the start of this month, the manager stated the player hit a snag when stepping up his training and failed to reach “the next phase.”

“We took lessons, and managed to assemble a squad that is considerably steadier and has more options,” stated the manager.

This development creates a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s match against Brentford. The manager needs to decide between continuing to use Mikel Merino, who scored playing out of position against Chelsea, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly after a fitness issue off the bench.
