Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
